I used different stones to make a more contemporary necklace, while maintaining the classic Navajo style that I make using more traditional stones.
This necklace includes seven strands of Smoky Quartz. I also included beads of my traditional Olive Heishi.
Smoky Quartz receives its name from it's brown color and this piece has a wonderful translucent quality.
Bright blue Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is used to accentuate the Quartz. Some believe that Smoky Quartz provides strength to the wearer and helps to dispel fear.
I closed the ends using a stamped sterling silver bead and sterling end caps as well as a hand twisted sterling eyelet, and a lobster claw.
