Large Donut-Cut Orange Spiny Oyster Shell Necklace

$272.00
A wonderful and larger necklace displaying sizable graduated discs of Orange Spiny Oyster, divided into five sections. A great piece for a night out or to dress-up a pair of jeans.

Each section is separated using two pieces of garnet, a small, stamped sterling silver rondelle, and is centered with either a large stamped silver bead or a swirled patterned silver bead.

The large pieces of Spiny Oyster are protected using two small pieces of Spiny Oyster shell.

The Spiny Oyster is part of an oyster species called "Spondylus varies", and is covered in spikes. Spiny Oyster shells can be found in red, pink, brown, yellow, purple, and white variations and were traded across North and Central America by Native Americans.

Garnets have been used in jewelry for at least 5,000 years and are also known for being the birthstone for January.

The ends of the necklace are finished using a sterling silver cone, with a silver bead and hand twisted eyelet and lobster claw to ensure a secure lock.

Length of this necklace is 22 inches.
